About
Michaela is a painter and ceramicist.
Michaela studied at Blackheath School of Art (Fine Art Foundation), Chelsea College of Art (BA Hons Illustration and Design) and as an exchange student at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris. She completed Turps Banana Correspondence Course (20/21).
Michaela studied ceramics at local classes (for years!) under Leach trained potter Caroline Bishop before setting up her own studio.
She works on both 2D and 3D commissions. Her ceramics feature people, storytelling and reference folk and Islamic traditions. Michaela’s paintings are usually made from life whether portraits or painting en plein air and drawing is perhaps the bedrock of her practice.
Michaela has exhibited in one person shows in Pakistan and London and made site specific works in both those countries.
Group exhibitions include: The Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award (NPG), The Discerning Eye (Mall Galleries), RA Summer Exhibition, Green & Stone Summer Exhibition, Green & Stone Works on Paper, Messums (Wiltshire) Plates for Peace.
Ceramic collections for The Shop Floor Project, Couverture & The Garbstore, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Westminster Abbey Shop. 22/23 Martin Brudnizki Design Studio commission for Broadwick Soho Hotel, 170 plates for the restaurant walls of Dear Jackie depicting the history and characters of Soho.
